WOUDRICHEM - Dear rowing friend,
On Saturday 14th december we are again organising our yearly long-distance rowing event for our own members and any guests from England, Scotland and Northern Ireland who wish to attend. Our rowing neighbours from Gorinchem, Heusden, Aalburg, Nijkerk and Oudega have also been invited.
The challenge? We’re rowing around Altena. 45 miles in one day! Don’t worry – we’ll make it a relay race so don’t be afraid you won’t make it.
8.00am Start clubhouse Arkade
We are rowing with 4-6 Dutch skiffs accompanied by a party boat and a rescue boat.
The tour will take us across the Merwede to the Hollands Diep, over the Amer, Bergse Maas, Afgedamde Maas and back to Arkade.
Bad weather scenario: we will row a shorter route through the Biesbosch
Lunch incl. coffee and tea and a simple meal on board of the partyboat are included (other drinks for own account). We change regularly so that everyone can row at least 2x
17.30 Expected time of arrival at the Arkade
18.30 We will be rowing the skiffs to the historic harbour where the "Evening of Lights" starts.
20.00 Winter Wonder Woudrichem fair
22.00 Party in the Arkade (until the early hours!)
Who can join:
We're welcoming every kind of rower - young and old, experienced or not. You have a chance to get to know each other better, learn from each other, new rowing teams formed or ideas exchanged for events for the coming year. It's going to be a win-win for everyone and guaranteed to be a fun experience.
What are the costs:
We are trying to keep the costs as low as possible. This year, there will be a charge of € 25.00 (22 GBP) per person to cover the cost of coffee / tea, lunch, meal on board and hiring the partyboat.
In addition, we are hoping for a donation to charity of at least € 10.00 per rower. At this moment we are looking for a charity fund to donate this year.
Join us even if you are not rowing
You are very welcome to join us even if you you won't be rowing. The comfortable partyboat is big enough to accomodate us all. Your support and encouragement for the rowers will be much appreciated.
Where to stay:
We can imagine UK participates fly in on Friday evening and return on Sunday (daytime or evening).
We arrange (free) staying with our rowing members.
Our members will welcome you in their home where you can sleep and enjoy our hospitality. Breakfast at your accommodation.
Life jackets are available for our guests so no need to take one with you. For our own members; please take your life jacket with you and if you have a spare for our guest, thank you.
Transfers are all dry and by ribs so you don’t need ‘wellies’.
Take some warm dry clothing with you so you can change on board.
