Woudrichem fishing and cultural history museum

In 1362, Woudrichem was granted fishing rights. That was the beginning of a long history as a fishing town, which lasted until the last century. Not for nothing are there two salmon in the coat of arms of Woudrichem.

A group of enthusiastic locals wanted to preserve this history, and began collecting information and materials about river fishing in Woerkum. This collection can be viewed at the Fisheries and Cultural History Museum in Woudrichem.

But there is more to see. Not only does the museum provide an almost complete overview of Dutch river fishing, but the culture of the region is also featured.

Furthermore, the museum is committed to keeping old crafts alive. It therefore organizes courses in sail-making, basket-making and net-knitting, among others.

Het Visserijmuseum is open from April to October. Outside of that for groups by appointment. Current opening hours and further information can be found on the museum's site.

The Wolfsburcht, museum for the air-cooled Volkswagen

The first museum for the Air-cooled Volkswagen in the Netherlands, is in Wijk en Aalburg.

The "Kevermuseum," as it is popularly known, provides an overview of the history of the Air-Cooled Volkswagen and connects this history to what was happening in the world during the same period. More than a car museum, in other words.

The museum is an initiative of André van Wijlen beetle parts v.o.f.

Visitor information and opening hours can be found on the museum's website.
