Special places to stay overnight

On vacation in the Biesbosch Line? After a day of enjoyment, spend the night at one of the special locations in the area. Rest well before a new day full of activity in Woudrichem, discover the Vestingdriehoek or explore the Dutch Waterlines.

Below we have listed the most extraordinary places to stay for you. All addresses for bed and breakfasts (B&B), hotels, campsites or apartments can be found here.

Staying overnight in the Biesbosch

De Biesbosch is a unique nature reserve and wonderful to spend several days in.

Completely off grid, you can experience the Biesbosch up close and personal with Holenberg – Home of Cabin ANNA. Rather sleep in your own caravan, camper or tent? From campsite De Knotwilg or De Witboom you are in the Biesbosch in no time. You can even spend the night on the water in a so-called Aquahome. Prefer solid ground under your feet? At Jachthaven van Oversteeg you can spend the night by the water. Are you really adventurous? Then sleep in the Hidden Hut.

In Unesco World Heritage Sites

The Hollandse Waterlinies is a unique defense system. This strip of land can be flooded and thus used to protect against invaders: the water was too deep to wade through, but not deep enough to navigate. Forts and fortresses were erected at weak spots in the line. Since 2021, the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie, along with the Stelling van Amsterdam, has been a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Nowadays you can even stay overnight ín this world heritage site. Sleep in Fort Bakkerskil or unwind in a casemate in the middle of the fortified town of Woudrichem. Another special world heritage site is Slot Loevestein, known by Hugo de Groot. Spend the night in the officers' quarters, the commander's quarters or in the soldiers' cottage.

Overlooking the polder

The Biesbosch Line alternates river landscapes and nature reserves with vast polders and vast farmlands. From B&B De Hooge Polder you look out over the fields. In the rustic village of Babyloniënbroek is B&B Babylonia and in Genderen is Camping Nix Hoeve: a small-scale campsite.

Another special overnight location is glamping The Greenhouse InN. You sleep in a garden greenhouse that has been converted into luxury accommodation. Through the large windows and glass ceiling you have a magnificent view over the polder. Prefer real camping? Family camping De Speeltol offers plenty of entertainment with a natural playground, farm animals, playground equipment and a swimming pool.
