Stephanie Struijk has been touring Dutch and Flemish theaters as a musician for almost twenty years. First as Stevie Ann - when she still sang in English - and for several years now under her own name.
Her new album is called "The Same Sun. She recorded it in one take. Like they did in the 1930s; with a few people in the studio playing a song together. The good recording, not cutting and pasting afterwards.
The stories and her voice take center stage. The songs could be excerpts from her diary. Honest and recognizable, she sings about love and having to let go of it. And about being strong and choosing for yourself. Small songs about big feelings.
Like her first Dutch-language album from 2016, "Dezelfde Zon" is a collection of songs in the Roots/Americana genre. Much of the music and lyrics she wrote with Daniël Lohues, who also produced the album.
