A unique opportunity to visit two historic gems during Open Monument Day on Sunday, Sept. 15. You will travel with the Hank-O-Motif and the laundress of Fort Altena from Castle Dussen along the 'route Napoleon' to Fort Altena. There you will get a guided tour from the laundress and you can have a cup of coffee. Afterwards you will travel with the tourist train back to Kasteel Dussen, where you get off at approximately 16.30 hrs.
The little train departs at 1 p.m. from Kasteel Dussen, prior you have the opportunity from 11 a.m. to also visit Kasteel Dussen. On the way the washerwoman will tell you about the history of the area and in particular about the 'route Napoleon' that was constructed so that Napoleon's troops could move quickly. Once at Fort Altena the washerwoman will tell you about the special history of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. Of course she tells about the role of the laundress.
