Saturday, Jan. 25, there will be a concert at the Sleeuwijks Kerkje.
Program: Sweelinck, Shovel and Van Eyck - a musical reunion
Performers: The Scroll Ensemble conducted by Robert de Bree
Starting time: 15.30 hours
Explanation
Imagine a meeting between three great musicians of the Dutch 17th century: the organist Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1561-1621), the violinist Johann Schop (1590-1667) and the recorder player Jacob van Eyck (1589-1657). What might they have played together? This concert is a musical conversation based on their own compositions and those of their contemporaries (such as Dowland's Lacrymae). They improvise together as they musically comment on each other's work and inspire each other with their musical ideas. An exploration of the creative process ensues, mixing lively spontaneity with masterpieces from the 17th century.
Adult price: € 15,- incl program overview
